Leave a page quickly and safely

Survivors and staff who need to leave a survivor-facing page at once on a shared device

What quick exit does

One control, on every survivor page

Quick exit leaves the current page at once for a neutral page. The Escape key does the same. It works by touch, mouse, and keyboard, with no pop-up confirmation.

  • The view clears at once and media stops
  • In-memory form text is cleared
  • The current history entry is replaced, so Back does not reopen the survivor page
  • The neutral page title carries no program or survivor detail

Steps

Leave in five steps

Practice these steps once so the control is easy to find under stress.

  1. Find the quick exit control

It is a fixed control on every survivor-facing page, including forms, messages, consent, status, and video check-in pages.

  2. Select quick exit, or press Escape

Select the control with touch or mouse, or press the Escape key on a keyboard. Do not use a confirmation step.

  3. Confirm the neutral page

A neutral page loads with no program name in the title. The survivor view is gone from the screen.

  4. Check Back, Forward, and Reload

History-safe handling is built in. Back does not reopen the survivor page. If you use a shared device, clear recent activity where the device allows it.

  5. Return only with a secure link

To return, open a new secure link and enter the PIN or access code. Device possession alone never opens confidential information.

Shared devices

Shared device sign-out

Shared device use clears the view on sign-out and asks for the PIN again next time. Short session timeout applies.

Sign out to clear

Select Sign out to clear the screen. The next person who opens the link must enter the access code again.

Clear recent activity

Close the tab and, where the device allows it, clear recent activity. Notification previews stay off by default.

Discreet recovery

Recovery does not send a reset link to a shared email account by default. Use the recovery method you chose.

Notifications, email subjects, page titles, and audit entries carry no survivor, program, or case detail. They say only that a message is waiting, where applicable.

Return

How to return with a secure link and access code

Each link serves one purpose only, expires after a set time, and can be revoked by staff or by the survivor. Only a hash of the token is stored. A link never carries survivor detail in the address, page title, or notification.

  • Open the new link, read what it does and when it expires
  • Enter the PIN or access code. Repeated wrong attempts lock access
  • Resume the form, thread, or waiting room where you left it, if the link allows it
  • End and clear the session when you are done, and use quick exit if you need to leave at once
